Lesson 132 English

Is there a substitute for doing your own laundry?  If you don’t have a washing or drying machine, then you probably have to pay money to wash you clothes.  But is there substitute, by not going to the laundromat in the city or town?  Yes and that is the drycleaners.

If you have a suite for weddings or for funerals or even for church, then you know you can not wash them with your washing machine.  You need to take it to a dry cleaner in town if you can’t afford a dry cleaning machine yourself.  So is there a substitute for doing your own laundry?  Not really, unless you don’t wash your clothes.

Dry Cleaners use a chemical called tetrachloroethene which is soft on the fabric, but toxic.  Dry cleaning back in 1855 used gasoline and kerosene inside of the cleaners mixture, but sometimes the the dry cleaner would explode or burn.  Dry cleaning today uses dry chemicals like tetrachloroethene and Green earth, which are not flammable.
