4 generals in the American Civil War

Ulysses S. Grant was the general of all the armies of the Union.  He was the only general to become the president of the U.S.A.  He served two terms.  Major General Ulysses S. Grant was born in Point Pleasant, Ohio, in April 27, 1822.  His father was Jesse Root Grant, a tanner, who wanted Ulysses to take over the job his father had.

Grant’s real name was Hiram.  Hiram did not want to be a tanner, so he studied war tactics and things about war.  He served in two wars.  Me died July 23, 1885.

Robert E Lee was a Confederate general of the American civil war.  Born January 19, 1807.  Died October 12, 1870.

George Pickett was a general of the C.S.A. born January 16, 1825 and died July 30, 1875.

Ambrose Burnside was a general for the U.S.A. and was born in May 23, 1824 and died in September 13, 1881.
